Got a Tip?

‘Expired’ Indie Dramedy Has Basically Already Given Up The Ghost

Have you heard of “Expired“? The new indie film by Truly Indie set for release this Friday? It stars Jason Patric (“Narc“) as a bitter, mean-spirited asshole meter cop who begins to date his meek, polar opposite, played by Samantha Morton? Judging from the trailer it looks pretty promising… Ring a bell? Nothing?

Of course you haven’t heard jackshit about it! (who the hell is working this thing?!)

Despite being accepted to both Sundance and Cannes 2007, apparently the flick has received next to no press. The independent film distributor trulyindie.com, who believes that “the main cause of death among independent films is anonymity. In order for your films to succeed you need the resources to create title awareness” is apparently behind the movie, but we have yet to see much indication of that. “Expired” isn’t even on the web site’s “coming soon” or in theaters now section (Oh, the glorious irony). Are their trailers on Apple, Yahoo, promo images on the IMDB page? Fat fucking chance. Try googling the movie and see just how many images you can find. We’re sure first-time director Cecilia Miniucchi is thrilled to hear this (Does someone hate her?)

Normally this would seem to be the kind of film we would champion, but guess what, no one told us or you or almost anyone else about it and if us social lifeless nerds have barely heard about it then we assume word hasn’t spread very far. Poor little indie film no one is going to see. “Expired” opens Friday, good fucking luck finding a place to see it.
