The new trailer for “Fabled” brings us a sneak peek of Episode 1, titled “Anodyne.” In it, we are introduced to Norbert Leo-Butz, who plays a therapist at an extensive behavioral therapy institution in. We then meet the rest of the cast over a breezy, fanciful score by Dan Teicher, including Mbatha-Raw, who plays “Dee” (Dorothy), and Zosia Mamet, who plays “Allie” (Alice). After a monologue from Leo-Butz about the healing power of rules, Dee explains that she’s trying to find her way back home, while Allie envisions a surrealistic, animated flower blooming in her hands. At just under one minute long, the trailer is packed with enough magic and mystery to keep the viewer wanting more.
“Fabled” is written and executive-produced by married couple Evan Jonigkeit and Zosia Mamet (“Girls“), who produced the Tribeca Film Festival Best Narrative Short-nominated “Mildred & The Dying Parlor” together in 2016, and fittingly directed by Jennifer Morrison, who plays Emma Swan on “Once Upon a Time.” Paul Wesley also stars in the series.
Co-produced by Refinery29, “Fabled” will air its first episode at the Tribeca Film Festival this year, which runs from Wednesday, April 18 until Sunday, April 29.
