Paul Thomas Anderson Just Secretly Directed A New Adam Sandler Netflix Special

Okay, people, it’s time to be excited about Adam Sandler again.

After a string of bad movies through his huge deal with Netflix, people have written off the comedian, and you wouldn’t be wrong for doing so. “The Ridiculous Six” is horrible, and his subsequent films haven’t gotten much better. But then news came, last week, that Sandler has signed on to star in the Safdie Brothers’ next film, “Uncut Gems.” That alone would be enough for people to give Sandler your attention. However, that news doesn’t come close to finding out that he teamed up with Paul Thomas Anderson, again.

That’s right. The duo that brought you Sandler’s best acting performance of all time in “Punch Drunk Love,” reteamed last night on a comedy special. According to Sandler’s Twitter feed from last week, the comedian was scheduled to perform last night at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, where he would film it for a new Netflix special. But, honestly, who cares about an Adam Sandler comedy special? At least that’s what we thought.

Then, we found out via Twitter, that this special was directed by none other than Paul Thomas Anderson. Wait, what? Suddenly, this comedy special has shown up on our radar as something we must see. Sure, Sandler’s brand of comedy lately has been childish and not very inspired. However, maybe this is all part of a return to form for the comedian. And with Anderson on board to direct, there’s no way you can miss it.

There’s no word on when we will see this new Adam Sandler special directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. With how Netflix operates, we probably won’t know until right before its released. However, we must say congratulations to Mr. Sandler. You now have our full attention. Please don’t let us down.
