It was one of the biggest stories at the time, so it’s not a surprise that the tale of CIA Agent Valerie Plame Wilson and what transpired when her husband, Joseph Wilson, wrote a 2003 New York Times op-ed piece saying that the Bush administration had manipulated intelligence about weapons of mass destruction to justify the invasion of Iraq, has been turned into a movie.
Directed by Doug Liman, “Fair Game” premiered at Cannes this past spring and while the film itself was perhaps a bit uneven, the performances by Sean Penn and Naomi Watts should definitely put them into awards season contention. So, it’s no surprise that Summit has slotted the film with a limited release starting on November 5th, with the film going wider, adding screens in the two weeks following.
No word on when a trailer for the film will land, but it should be any day now and we expect “Fair Game” to hit TIFF or NYFF in September.
