In the eyes of most people, becoming an opera singer is tantamount to wanting to become an astronaut or a cowboy. It just seems highly unlikely and one of those pipe dreams that you quickly dismiss as you pursue your business education and begin a smart, sensible career. Well, that seems to be the reaction the main character gets when she explains her operatic dreams in “Falling for Figaro.”
As seen in the trailer for the new feature, “Falling for Figaro” follows the story of a fund manager that takes a year off of her highly successful business career to pursue her dreams of becoming an opera singer. She does this by venturing off to the Scottish Highlands in search of an opera legend that will teach her the ropes. That is, if she can somehow win over the aging curmudgeonly tutor.
The film stars Danielle Macdonald, Hugh Skinner, Joanna Lumley, Gary Lewis, Shazad Latif, and Rebecca Benson. ‘Figaro’ is directed by Ben Lewin, who co-wrote the feature alongside Allen Palmer. Lewin is perhaps best known for his 2012 film, “The Sessions.” More recently, he’s directed films such as “The Catcher is a Spy” and “Please Stand By.”
“Falling for Figaro” arrives in theaters and VOD on October 1. You can watch the new trailer below.
