As we come to the end of 2022 and head into 2023, can we all make a promise to each other? Let’s all do our best to not sit here and speculate about which actors will be cast in Marvel Studios’ upcoming “Fantastic Four” film. We’ve been doing it for years. Hell, the speculation seemingly led to John Krasinski getting called up to appear in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” But, seriously, let’s just wait for Marvel to tell us, and then be good with whoever it is. Because, according to the aforementioned Krasinski, he’s not going to be one of the names in the announcement.

Speaking to The Wrap, while promoting the new season of “Jack Ryan,” John Krasinski was asked if he’s had discussions with Marvel Studios about returning as Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, in an upcoming project. Basically, is he going to be the real Mr. Fantastic when “Fantastic Four” goes into production, presumably in 2023?
“There aren’t any discussions at all, the only discussion I had was actually in the second-to-last week of ‘Jack Ryan,’” Krasinski said. “Kevin Feige called and said would you ever fly to L.A. and play in our sandbox for a day? I was honored to do it. I flew right from Budapest when we wrapped and went right to the ‘Doctor Strange’ set. I’m a big fan of all those characters and that world, so to get to play in that sandbox for one day was a real thrill.”

He continued, “It’s totally insane. To be in a room with all those people, and again to be a part of that narrative is crazy. But yeah, being turned into spaghetti wasn’t my end goal in life as far as how it goes in the Marvel universe, but you know what it was fun nonetheless.”
Obviously, we’ll have some people react to that quote and say, “But, but, but… he wouldn’t say if he was going to be in the movie, anyway!” Sure, that’s always true. Marvel Studios trains its actors to be really good at deflection. That said, everyone involved with Krasinski’s ‘Multiverse of Madness’ cameo seems to be on the same page saying that it was a fun little nod to fans and likely won’t be relevant to the actual reboot of the “Fantastic Four” in the MCU.
So, with that out of the way, let’s just try our best to be patient. Let’s just wait for the Almighty Lord of All Things Marvel, aka Kevin Feige, to come down off of his mountaintop and grace us with the cast list, as he does every single time. Deal?
