Got a Tip?

First Images From ‘Imogene’ With Kristen Wiig & Annette Bening

nullUpdate: Images have been removed by request.

Unlike fellow SNL-ers who made the leap to the big screen but couldn't diversify (Chris Kattan, Tim Meadows, Dana Carvey, etc), Kristen Wiig is eager to make sure she doesn't get locked into a typecast. She's of course made appearances in a handful of films prior to "Bridesmaids," but the Judd Apatow production found the actress brining a few extra nuances to her usual brand of socially maladjusted female characters. And for the actress' next effort, she's teaming with "Ameriacn Splendor" helmers Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini for the indie comedy "Imogene" which finds her broadening her scope a little bit more.

Co-starring a pretty solid cast including Annette Bening, Matt Dillon, Darren Criss and Natasha Lyonne, the story follows a playwright (Wiig) who stages a fake suicide attempt to win back her ex-boyfriend, and winds up in the custody of her gambling-addict mother (Bening). Complicating things further is the arrival of a crazed suitor for her mother, who claims he's in the CIA, played by Dillon. Even though it was only shooting in August, a strong handful of images from the movie landed in addition to what looks like an early sales poster. It's a nice peek at the movie that we imagine will hit the festival circuit in 2012.

No release date yet, but the promising mix of talent in front of and behind the camera definitely puts this one on our radar for the new year. More images below. [Bleeding Cool via ComingSoon]
