Reese Witherspoon continues her recent run of left-of-center projects—”Mud,” “Devil’s Knot,” “Inherent Vice“—with “Wild,” which has now started filming with “Dallas Buyers Club” director Jean-Marc Vallee behind the camera. And the first look has already arrived.
The actress herself tweeted the image as she takes the lead role in the true story of a woman’s 1,100-mile solo hike along the Pacific Crest Trail in the wake of personal tragedy, including the death of her mother and the collapse of her marriage. So yes, Reese is going backpacking. And joining her, alongside the already cast Thomas Sadoski, Gaby Hoffman and more, is Laura Dern. She’ll be playing the late mother of Reese’s character, who continues to have an impact on her life.
