In one of the strangest marketing ploys of recent times, Sony has debuted new footage from the alien-invasion war film and recent Comic-Con starrer “Battle: Los Angeles.” The catch? It lasts the best part of two seconds.
The film is directed by Jonathan Liebesman (“Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning,” “Darkness Falls”) and follows a war between man and aliens set in the city of Los Angeles starring the likes of Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan, Joey King, Lucas Til (Havoc in “X-Men: First Class”), Michael Pena, Taylor Handley, Ramon Rodriguez (that annoying guy in ‘Transformers 2’) and pop singer NeYo.
Early descriptions of the extended footage that debuted at Comic-Con over the weekend have said the film is like “Black Hawk Down” meets “District 9” with said footage likely show up online in some form in the near future. A few new photos have also been unveiled which provide a better look than the head-scratchingly brief footage.
The film is due out March 11, 2011. [BleedingCool]
