First Look: Justin Timberlake & Cameron Diaz In 'Bad Teacher'

Call it the: “we missed it, so did you” post? Or maybe not, regardless. Last week in the Friday issue of Entertainment Weekly, the magazine gave us our first look at Jake Kasdan’s “Bad Teacher,” a comedy centered around a foul-mouthed, junior high teacher (Cameron Diaz) who, after being dumped by her sugar daddy, begins to woo a colleague (Justin Timberlake) — a move that pits her against a well-loved teacher (Lucy Punch), and everyone — or at least us, certainly seemed to miss it.

It’s perhaps not much to look at, but it does show what appears to be the opening flirtations between Diaz and Timberlake’s characters at a dance. The film just started shooting over a week ago.

It’s also interesting to note — something that most people have failed to remember, including us — that Timberlake and Diaz are former paramours; that should make for an interesting set. Let’s hope their relationship ended well and Jessica Biel doesn’t drop by to visit.

But perhaps that chemistry will work out in the film’s favor. “They obviously know each other really well,” Jake Kasdan, who directed the Apatow semi-bomb, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story,” told EW. “They’re good friends, and they’re both incredibly funny people. I couldn’t be more excited about it.”

And it sounds like Diaz’s character is totally f’d in the comedy which will hit sometime in 2011. ‘She’s usually hungover when she gets to school,” he added. “She’s kind of foul mouthed. And she’s completely fixated on trying to afford breast augmentation surgery, and very open about it. She believes it will help her find the right man who will take care of her for the rest of her life.”

Timberlake plays the substitute teacher “who happens to be the heir to a watch-making company.” The script was penned by “The Office” alum and upcoming “Ghostbusters 3” scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky. Jason Segel plays a gym teacher, Michael Higgins plays the principal and Molly Shannon also stars.
