The first trailer has been unveiled for Stuart Beattie’s upcoming adaptation of John Marsden’s “Tomorrow, When The War Began.”
Marsden’s novel — the first of a whole series — is an Australian cult classic and follows the story of a band of teenagers who must defend themselves and their small town against a foreign invasion. So, pretty much “Red Dawn” set in Australia.
Beattie will be making his directorial debut on the project after making a name for himself scribing the likes of the ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ trilogy, Baz Luhrmann’s “Australia,” and “G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra.” Surely, he’s learned a thing or two about making blockbusters from that bunch? The film’s cast, meanwhile, is filled out by relatively unknown Australians including Caitlin Stasey, Rachel Hurd-Wood, Lincoln Lewis, Andy Ryan, Lee Pang and Deniz Akdeniz.
“Tomorrow, When The War Began” doesn’t have a U.S. release as of yet but will hit Australian theaters this September.
