There is an exciting update to share concerning the status of the ’80s-set vampire thriller ‘Flesh of the Gods‘ coming from director Panos Cosmatos (“Mandy”), screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker (“Se7en”), and A24, as filming is now underway in the Canary Islands, Spain, and other scenes are expected to shoot in Cologne, Germany.
The great news that the project is finally in production hails from Deadline, which adds that they’ve rounded out the cast, as Kristen Stewart (“Love Lies Bleeding”) and Wagner Moura (“The Secret Agent”) will be joined by Esmé Creed-Miles (“A Head Full of Ghosts”), Roland Møller (“Citadel,” “Atomic Blonde”), and Alba Baptista (“Voltron”).

In the report, they reminded us of what the plot of “Flesh of the Gods” will be:
“A married couple in glittering ’80s L.A. who descend each evening from their luxury skyscraper condo and head into an electric nighttime realm. When they cross paths with the mysterious and enigmatic Nameless and her hard-partying crew, Raoul (Moura) and Alex (Stewart) are seduced into a glamorous, surrealistic world of hedonism, thrills, and violence.”
“Flesh of the Gods” (sounds like it could be taking inspiration from Tony Scott’s 1983 film “The Hunger“) is produced by Hyperobject Industries, Augenschein Filmproduktion, Nevermind Pictures, and XYZ Films. As XYZ Films and YouRoc are financing alongside IPR.VC and Vixens. More deals at the Cannes Film Market see domestic rights handled by CAA Media Finance and WME Independent, with XYZ Films overseeing international sales.
You might remember that Elizabeth Olsen and Oscar Isaac had been originally attached with Stewart, before the project had some financing delays that led to them pivoting to other actors as Moura took over for the part meant for Isaac.
