‘Fonda’: Mia Goth, Andrew Scott, Frank Dillane, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett & Allison Janney Star In Psychological Thriller From ‘Anatomy Of A Fall’ Director Justine Triet

Anatomy of a Fall” director Justine Triet is putting together her next big feature film effort,” Fonda.” It happens to be a psychological thriller that is being lined up as the filmmaker’s first full English-language debut, and the group of acting talent being assembled for “Fonda” is equally impressive.

A report from Deadline reveals that Mia Goth (“Frankenstein”), Andrew Scott (“Ripley”), Frank Dillane (“Urichin”), and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (“Candyman”) have been signed up for roles in the picture, with Allison Janney (“I, Tonya”) still in talks to join as well. Quite the collection of acting talent, for sure.

The high-profile project from Triet is being eyed for a production start sometime this spring and is heading to the European Film Market in Berlin (coinciding with the Berlin International Film Festival in February), with the Paris-based m2k Films handling sales. m2k is also co-producing and co-financing with StudioCanal, as Triet reunites with producers Marie-Ange Luciani (“Les Films de Pierre”) and David Thion (“Les Films Pelléas”).

In the reporting, a brief but tantalizing logline for the script penned by Triet was mentioned:

“A psychological thriller set in a seemingly idyllic huis clos, Fonda takes us on a vertiginous dive into the shifting limits of a sound mind, as grief and obsession take hold.”

Treit’s Oscar and Palme d’Or winning murder courtroom drama “Anatomy of a Fall” made HUGE waves in 2023 (nabbing the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 2024 for Treit and co-writer Arthur Harari) and helped thrust lead actress Sandra Hüller into the global spotlight (with a Best Actress Oscar nomination) alongside Jonathan Glazer‘s chilling Holocaust drama “The Zone of Interest,” another Oscar-winner earning Best International Feature Film that same year.

Additional casting is still underway, so we should expect to hear more names being announced for “Fonda.” We’ll keep our fingers crossed that Triet can include another epic earworm like the 50 Cent cover of “PIMP” from the German group Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band used for “Anatomy of a Fall” in her next feature film.
