Fox Wants Channing Tatum & Joseph Gordon-Levitt For Their 'Guys And Dolls' Remake

Channing TatumChanning Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt starring in a remake of the classic musical “Guys And Dolls“?. It’s not the worst idea we’ve ever heard…

Now that the studio has cinched up the rights to the classic, they are starting development and have these two guys in mind. Granted, they aren’t Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando, but really, who is? They’ve both shown an affinity for dancing, performing and singing (okay, C-Tates not so much in the last department) in a variety of venues, from the Oscars to “Saturday Night Live.” And moreover, there are few actors their age who appeal both to bros and dudettes. Basically, they will make it okay to see a movie about some shady gamblers who make a bet over getting a girl to date one of ’em while looking to raise scratch for a craps game. The material won a Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize back in the 1950s and, of course, was turned into an iconic movie.

Now don’t get too upset that this is happening. Firstly, it was bound to sooner or later because that’s just show things go and secondly, no one is locked in yet. A script needs to be written and a director found, so this is a long way off anyway. Just be thankful that rumor a few years ago that Guy Ritchie was going to do it turned out to be bogus. [Deadline]
