Francis Ford Coppola's 'Apocalypse Now: The Final Cut' Will Get Special IMAX Screenings In August

Technology has changed quite a bit over the last 40 years. And in the realm of film, that is even more apparent. So, it’s truly special when film fans get the opportunity to watch a classic film in its “perfect” form on the biggest and best screen that 2019 has to offer. That’s exactly what’s going to happen next month when Francis Ford Coppola’s incredible “Apocalypse Now: The Final Cut” arrives at IMAX screens.

Tickets are now on sale for special engagement showings of the newest cut of ‘Apocalypse Now’ at select IMAX locations beginning on August 15. This is to coincide with the new release of what Coppola calls the “perfect” version of the film that many would consider perhaps his greatest achievement. That’s high praise for a film from the man who brought folks “The Godfather” series.

Coppola said, “In truth, I’ve always wanted ‘Apocalypse Now’ to be exhibited in the grandest format of cinema conceivable. And now audiences will have a chance to experience ‘Final Cut’ in the most immersive format in existence.”

The film has been restored by Coppola in 4K glory and has been recut, adding scenes, changing scenes, and ultimately making ‘Apocalypse Now’ the film that he imagined it could be four decades ago. The legendary war film stars Marlon Brando, Martin Sheen, Robert Duvall, Frederic Forrest, Laurence Fishburne, Dennis Hopper, and Harrison Ford.

“Apocalypse Now: Final Cut” will arrive in select IMAX theaters on August 15 and August 18. The film will also be shown in other theaters beginning on August 15 before arriving on Blu-ray later that month.
