Got a Tip?

From The Department Of Obvious Casting: Stellan Skarsgard In Negotiations For ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’

Considering that director David Fincher is keeping the Swedish location (and even the accents, which is not exactly our favorite idea, frankly) for his studio version of hit thriller “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”, it was always likely that few high-profile Swedish actors would join the cast. And while Max Von Sydow hasn’t yet been mentioned for the elderly father role (but we’re sure it’s only a matter of time), one of the country’s most recognizable stars is negotiating to join Daniel Craig in the project.

Stellan Skarsgard, star of blockbusters like “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Mamma Mia” and the upcoming “Thor,” has told Variety that he’s currently in negotiations with Sony, saying that “I have met Fincher, I want to work with him, he wants to work with me.” Skarsgard appears to have beaten out the likes of Ellen Page, Rooney Mara and Emily Browning to play the young sociopathic computer hacker Lisbeth Salander. Is there nothing that man can’t do?

Oh, wait, no, Skarsgard will in fact play Martin Vanger, the president of the Vanger Corporation, which much of the story revolves around, and a key suspect in a series of terrible murders. Filming kicks off next month, and a decision is expected on the casting of Salander any day now (we’re pretty sure we know which of the rumored actors has it, but we’re waiting for confirmation).
