While this won’t be the first time that Gadot appeared in a TV series, the upcoming biopic series about actress/inventor Hedy Lamarr is poised to become the actress’ best-known work in the medium.

According to Deadline, Gadot has signed on to produce and star in a new Showtime drama series about the life and career of actress-turned-inventor Hedy Lamarr. The untitled series is created, written, and produced by Sarah Treem, who is probably best known for her previous Showtime series “The Affair.”

For those that aren’t familiar with Lamarr, the woman appeared in dozens of films in the early days of Hollywood, most notably perhaps in films like 1933’s “Ecstasy” and Cecil B. DeMille’sSamson and Delilah.” Lamarr would then go on to finish her career in acting in 1958. During World War II, she and composer George Antheil began working on a new frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology that could be used to help defeat the Axis’ use of jamming. The technology would then be used as a basis for future advances like Bluetooth and WiFi.

Showtime’s President of Entertainment Jana Winograde said, “The life of Hedy Lamarr was a truly fascinating one. She stood at the forefront of many issues that challenge women and our society today. In Gal Gadot, we have found the transcendent actress to portray the deeply complex Lamarr. And with the award-winning talents of Sarah Treem and Warren Littlefield, this is going to be a special series.”

There’s no word on when we might see the Hedy Lamarr series with Gadot, but we’ll definitely keep an eye out for news.
