Contest: Win 'Galveston' On Blu-Ray Starring Ben Foster & Elle Fanning, Directed By Mélanie Laurent

If you’re a film fan and you’re not on board with actor Ben Foster, then you’re missing out. Though he has yet to receive the universal acclaim of some of his co-stars, Foster has carved out a pretty great IMDB over the last few years, starring in films like “Hell or High Water,” “Hostiles,” and the excellent “Leave No Trace.” But with all the acclaim the latter film has received, you may have missed Foster’s newest film “Galveston” during its theatrical run earlier this fall. That’s where we come in.

In honor of “Galveston” hitting home release today, we are honored to be offering readers a chance to win their very own copy of the crime thriller on Blu-ray. For those unfamiliar with “Galveston,” Foster stars as a drunk, curmudgeon of a man and criminal enforcer that is double-crossed by his boss. After barely escaping with his life, he finds that the crime boss was holding a young woman hostage. With the young woman in tow, the now-former enforcer goes on the run to the lovely-ish beach town of Galveston, Texas.

In addition to the talent of Foster, “Galveston” features Elle Fanning (having a moment in 2018 with this film, as well as “I Think We’re Alone Now”) and Beau Bridges. The film is directed by popular French star Mélanie Laurent and written by Nic Pizzolatto (“True Detective”), who decided to use a pseudonym because his script, based on his own novel, was drastically altered.

Ultimately, “Galveston” is a tense, well-acted, beautifully-directed crime thriller that was criminally underrated upon its release. Now, since the film is available on VOD, as well as DVD/Blu-ray, we hope that film fans will give the film its fair shake.

To win a copy, all you have to do is follow us on Facebook and Twitter, tweet: “I want to win the ‘Galveston’ Blu-ray from @ThePlaylist. #WinThePlaylistContest,” and include the URL of this story. Your final step: just email us your tweet to [email protected], with your full name and address, and tell us the name of your favorite Ben Foster film (all entries containing “X-Men: The Last Stand” will be thrown out — kidding, obviously).

As mentioned, “Galveston” is available on all home release formats now.

Here are the synopsis for the film and the trailer:

In GALVESTON, Roy (Foster) is a heavy-drinking criminal enforcer and mob hit man whose boss set him up in a double-cross scheme. After killing his would-be assassins before they could kill him, Roy discovers Rocky (Fanning), a young woman being held captive, and reluctantly takes her with him on his escape. Determined to find safety and sanctuary in Galveston, Roy must find a way to stop his boss from pursuing them while trying to outrun the demons from his and Rocky’s pasts.
