“Zootopia,” “Finding Dory,” and “The Secret Life Of Pets” have all been massive animated hits this year, but also four quadrant crowdpleasers that are perfect for any age group. That brings us to “Sausage Party,” definitely an adults only affair. While some seemed to think that “Deadpool” was ushering in a new era for R-rated movies, the truth is it was an exception to the rule; audiences this year haven’t been too hot for high-concept, raunchy fare (see “The Nice Guys“). Seth Rogen and co’s “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising” also disappointed at the box office, so it’ll be interesting to see how “Sausage Party” is received.

Voiced by Rogen and an all-star cast including Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, David Krumholtz, Edward Norton, and Salma Hayek, the concept for this one is pretty simple: grocery store items discover the horrifying truth of what happens when they go home with customers. It’s pretty fucked up, and a lot of foul language follows.
“Sausage Party” opens on August 12th.
