Get Hype! Get Pumped!: "We Have A Lot Of Work To Do!" Obama Video

This moving video fucking rules and gets us hype. The music written by Benh Zeitlin sounds like Godspeed You! Black Emperor only with sublime hope instead of desolation and despair. Crank it up loud, let it tear you up and make you misty. Let it give you hope, let it make you do the last minute things you can do to help out. We never claimed to be nonpartisan in our politics. Fuck it, vote Obama and do the right thing tomorrow. Especially if you live in a Red and or Swing State. God, change would be such a beautiful thing right now. Perhaps we’re buying the kool-aid, but we’ve been cynical for so long it feels like we could be on the precipice of something great. Let’s give it a chance. Do the right thing.

Zeitlin wrote and directed the film, “Glory at Sea” which was the Winner of the SXSW Wholphin Award at the SXSW Film Festival early this year. The film was rapturously reviewed by Spout’s David Lowery and it’s something we’re looking forward to seeing as well as it sounds pretty damn moving.

Lowery called the 25-minute short, “epic” and “Herzog-ian.”

“Set on the coast of an antediluvian New Orleans and narrated from the bottom of the ocean by a dead little girl, the film tells the tale of a group of shellshocked residents who rediscover a sense of hope after a man thought lost to the storm washes ashore and immediately sets about constructing a raft, with which he might return to sea on an Orphic quest to find his waterlogged love.”

Here’s the trailer for the film. It features the Arcade Fire’s “The Crown Of Love.”
