Got a Tip?

‘Giant’: Woody Harrelson & Kerry Condon Topline English Remake Of Marcos Carnevale’s Stature Rom-Com ‘Corazón de León’

Actors Woody Harrelson (“Triangle of Sadness”) and Kerry Condon (“Night Swim”) are reportedly attached to star in “Giant,” an English remake of the 2013 romantic comedy “Corazón de León.” If you’re not familiar with the previous iteration, the movie saw a woman getting romantically involved with a very short older man and explored the prejudices surrounding that situation with both humor and heart.

This news hails from Deadline and they add that the new remake will see the original film’s director Marcos Carnevale return at the helm and has a script penned by Chilean screenwriter Gonzalo Maza (“A Fantastic Woman!”).

We don’t know for sure if “Giant” will be an exact copy of the original given the title has changed from “Heart of A Lion” and a new writer is involved. However, we could make an assumption that a potential reversal of the perspective may see one of the characters going from super short to extremely tall.

A synopsis that comes from IMDB reads:

Ivana Cornejo is a successful lawyer. She’s been divorced for three years, but shares the office with her ex-husband who is also a lawyer and associate. After she loses her mobile phone, Ivana receives a call from the person who found it. It is León Godoy, an important architect with a very attractive personality, he’s charming, charismatic, a perfect gentleman and also divorced. They feel very attracted to each other during the chat and agree on meeting the next day so he can give the mobile phone back. But when he arrives she is in shock when finds out he is approximately 4.4 feet tall! From that moment on Ivana tries to overcome prejudice from society and her own fears to live moments which are definitely the best she’s ever had. Though the fact that Leon is almost perfect bother her a lot.

Condon, known for appearing on American shows like “Better Call Saul” and “Ray Donovan,” has been gathering a bit of steam after her high-profile Best Supporting Oscar nomination for the fantastic Ireland-set dark comedy “The Banshees of Inisherin.” More recently, she has popped up in the “Star Wars” series “Skeleton Crew” that aired on Disney+ and will co-star alongside Brad Pitt in the upcoming racing pic “F1” from director Joseph Kosinski (“Top Gun: Maverick”) that hits theaters this June.

While a studio or distributor isn’t mentioned in the report, CAA is repping the pic (assumed to be for the sales side of things) and has Mike Lobell set to produce. Stay tuned for further updates on the rom-com project as they roll in.
