Francis Ford Coppola might just be on the publicity tour of a lifetime, as we approach the impending release of his decades-in-the-making passion project, “Megalopolis,” but that doesn’t mean the filmmaker is going to ride off into the sunset. No, Coppola is already prepping his next film.
In a new interview with The Telegraph, Francis Ford Coppola talked about his upcoming film, “Megalopolis,” which was only made once the filmmaker paid $120 million of his own money to see it happen. However, for his next film, currently titled “Glimpses of the Moon,” the filmmaker is going back to traditional financing options.

While we don’t know anything about the plot, Coppola said that he is going the more traditional way for financing his upcoming film, which he “funded the conventional way, with the help of national subsidies, because I’m all borrowed out.”
As for what the content of the film might look like, the filmmaker said “Glimpses of the Moon” is a loose adaptation of an Editch Wharton novel and will feature “strong dance and musical elements. I’ve turned it into a very odd confection.”
So, it appears that Coppola isn’t ready to go back to making standard prestige dramas anytime soon. The filmmaker is still out there taking chances and risking it. No matter what you think about Coppola, you have to hand it to him—he doesn’t like to play it safe.
“Megalopolis” is set to arrive in theaters on September 20. We don’t yet know when we might see “Glimpses of the Moon” begin production.
