‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’: Millie Bobby Brown Unveils The First Footage

Actress Millie Bobby Brown might be known for all things “Stranger Things,” but last year she bagged her first big movie role with a supporting part in “Godzilla: King of the Monsters.” Today, on Instagram, the Netflix star unveiled the first footage of the film. It might not be all that much to look at, but it is the first taste of a movie that’s greatly anticipated and will have a presence at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con.

“Reach Monarch” is all she says in her post, but fans will know Monarch is the mysterious government organization that first appeared in the 2014 “Godzilla” film directed by Gareth Edwards (‘Rogue One‘). Monarch also has a presence in “Kong: Skull Island” as John Goodman‘s character William “Bill” Randa was a senior operative at the secret agency.

“Godzilla: King Of The Monsters” recently appeared in the pages of EW. Taking over for Edwards on the sequel is director Michael Dougherty, whose previous credits include the horror movie “Krampus.”

“The world is reacting to Godzilla in the same way we would react to any other terrifying incident, in that we are overreacting,” he told the magazine. Godzilla hasn’t been seen since that destructive finale of the 2014 film, “but there’s paranoia and endless speculation about whether he is the only one out there or whether we’re threatened by others like his kind.”

‘King of the Monsters’ sounds like it will introduce many of Godzilla’s nemesis including the three-headed King Ghidorah, Mothra, and another flying monster, Rodan. And, it will pave the way for the “Godzilla Vs. KongMonsterVerse movie expected in 2020 though Dougherty says the movie “won’t bend over backwards” to introduce Kong, but that “breadcrumbs” will appear.

“Godzilla: King Of The Monsters” also stars Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Aisha Hinds, Zhang Ziyi and lands in theaters May 31, 2019. It’s unclear if the first trailer will hit at Comic-Con, but it’s a good bet we’ll see something and perhaps this is a small tease of what Legendary and Warner will reveal in full in San Diego.
