'Hamilton' Trailer: Lin-Manuel Miranda Brings His Award-Winning Broadway Musical To Disney+

American composer, actor, playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda has so many major accolades to his name: a Pulitzer Prize, three Tony Awards, three Grammy Awards, an Emmy Award, a MacArthur Fellowship, and a Kennedy Center Honor in 2018. And while his rise to fame started with “In The Heights,” it’s the Broadway musical “Hamilton” that really started it all for Miranda. And for most of the public, his claim to fame starts here. So, it’s no wonder, as Miranda has transitioned to Hollywood with acting roles, voice roles, composing scores and soundtracks, that’s he’s gone back to “Hamilton” one last time.

Set to be released on Disney+ on July 3, 2020, “Hamilton” the movie finally brings the beloved stage play to the masses with a live recording of Miranda’s cherished 2015 Broadway musical. And in case you need to rewind, or been living under a bridge, “Hamilton” tells the story of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton and it’s inspired by the 2004 biography Alexander Hamilton by historian Ron Chernow.  The show’s music was acclaimed and renowned for its mixing of traditional-style show tunes with hip hop, R&B, pop and soul.

Filmed at The Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway in June of 2016, the film transports its audience into the world of the Broadway show in a uniquely intimate way. With book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and direction by Thomas Kail, “Hamilton” is inspired by the book “Alexander Hamilton” by Ron Chernow and produced by Thomas Kail, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jeffrey Seller, with Sander Jacobs and Jill Furman serving as executive producers. Filming was produced by RadicalMedia.
