Got a Tip?

‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Season 2 Trailer Burns With Haunting New Images

Fresh off two major Golden Globe wins—Best TV Drama and Best Actress In A TV Drama (Elisabeth Moss)— and eight Emmy wins this past September, Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” is back with what is arguably the most successful show on Television at the moment. And for real. While prestige shows like, “True Detective,” “Mindhunter,” “Master Of None,” etc. sometimes take a full year before they are back on their air, “The Handsmaid’s Tale” is not only done essentially, it arrive in April. Hulu’s obviously not wasting any time with their flagship show which is wise because it’s arguably the only show they have with real critical acclaim.

“The biggest barrier of season 2 was season 1,” showrunner Bruce Miller told EW this week. “You sort of intimidate yourself. But at a certain point, you can’t spend all your time second-guessing things. Instead, you just have to remember to try and tell a good story.”

While we won’t reveal spoilers for the end of season one in case you haven’t seen the show, season two will apparently enter “uncharted territory” and Margaret Atwood, the author of the novel which the series is based on will consult

You won’t get much out of Miller though. “I’m not being cagey!” he said about not revealing… anything. “I just want the viewers to experience it for themselves!” But he does give a few nuggets. Such as S2 will explore the lives of the refugees (Samira Wiley) who’ve been able to escape on top of those who have been exiled to the polluted and contaminated areas of North America.

The silent, solemn new trailer is wordless, but features a choir-like version of Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth (Stop, Hey What’s That Sound)” and feels as eerie and chilling as anything else “Handmaid’s Tale” has done so far. Watch the new trailer and tell us what you think. “The Handmaid’s Tale” returns to Hulu in April, but no specific date has been set yet.
