Got a Tip?

‘Handmaid’s Tale’ Season Two Will Have 13 Episodes, Will Reed Morano Return?

The first season of Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” was released on the streaming service today, but show runner Bruce Miller is already at work in the writer’s room on season two.  In an interview with The Playlist, executive producer Warren Littlefield revealed some details about season two.

According to Littlefield, production will begin in September and end next February.  Additionally, unlike the first season, which featured just 10 episodes, season two will be 13 hours. That likely means at least 12 episodes with a number of them extended or, simply, 13 episodes.  No matter what the case, fans will get more ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ the second time around.

Moreover, Littlefield was asked whether Reed Morano, who helmed the first three episodes of the series and was largely responsible for the tone and style of the show, will return:

“I think if we just use the word hot — her career is hot right now. She’s exploded. But it’s very important for her to come back,” Littlefield says. “She’s got a movie coming up and we’re trying to make sure that we get Reed at least at the end of the season when she’s done with her film.”

The movie Littlefield is referring to is currently untitled, but is expected to star Diane Lane and Jeff Bridges.

All 10 episodes of “The Handmaid’s Tale” are now available on Hulu.
