Could Harrison Ford be joining Jon Favreau’s graphic novel adaptation of “Cowboys & Aliens”?
Rumor has it the iconic actor is set to join a “huge comic book movie to be directed by a director coming off a soon to be released huge comic book movie” — the quote isn’t exactly clear and concise but, in summary, “Cowboys & Aliens” fits the bill of Ford’s reported next project as the Western, sci-fi mash-up will be helmed by Favreau, who is going back-to-back with big comic adaptations.
It’s probably nothing more than a rumor at this stage though if true could be announced very soon as Favreau recently tweeted, “Some very cool Cowboys & Aliens casting news coming soon…”
The film currently has Daniel Craig and Olivia Wilde attached to star in the story of a history-rewriting union between Native Americans and cowboys in order to combat invading aliens. We don’t know the source material at all but, god, wouldn’t it be refreshing to see Ford as a villain? As long as it’s not some bit part, supporting role like the father of Craig’s protagonist.
Ford has been away from the Hollywood spotlight for a while now (we’re totally discounting “Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull”) though he did have a funny two-second cameo in “Bruno.” He’ll next be seen in “Morning Glory” along side Rachel McAdams, Diane Keaton and Jeff Goldblum though any appearance in Favreau’s latest is sure to have tongues wagging.
