Well, George Lucas just creamed his pants. Speaking at a press junket for “Extraordinary Measures” (we saw it, and it’s awful) Harrison Ford seemed jazzed about doing a follow-up to “Indiana Jones & the KOCS” (sorry, just had to). “I think it would be interesting to advance the understanding of the character, as we always have had that ambition throughout the series. I think it would be interesting to deepen the relationship between he and his son [Mutt, played by Shia LaBeouf] and play on that relationship. … It’s full of opportunity. The series is full of opportunity,” said Ford.
By “opportunity”, we’re pretty sure Ford means “cash.” Back in 2008, Ford said that Lucas had a “crazy, but great” idea for another film but when pressed this time around, Ford played coy when asked for more details. Thankfully, any plans for another Indiana Jones film are still speculative. “George [Lucas] is working on an idea, and if it comes to a fruitful stage, all of us are very interested in making another,” says Ford.
Remember when the series was supposed to be pure, pulp fun? Yeah, apparently neither do the filmmakers. No one cares to have a “deeper understanding” of Indiana Jones or his family. The entire point of series was to present a ripped-from-the-pages pulp hero who kicked ass and took names. In other news, Ford will be 70 in 2012, so unless he plans on taking the Sean Connery/”Last Crusades” role, “Indiana Jones V: Ouch, I Broke My Hip”, has the potential to become the most ridiculous entry in the series.
