The Potterverse is heading toward a reboot with a new “Harry Potter” series in the works from Francesca Gardiner and Mark Myold. There is now an update on the casting front as a well-known actor is circling the part of the loveable Rubeus Hagrid.
British comedic actor Nick Frost (“Star Wars: Skeleton Crew”) is nearing a deal to play the half-giant and creature-whisperer in the series, according to a report from Deadline.

Hagrid in the original films acted as a key exposition dump character and sort of a guide for the youngsters alongside being well educated about all the various fantastical creatures that inhabit the world of “Harry Potter.”
If you weren’t aware, “Harry Potter” focuses on a magical world of wizards hidden from regular humans (referred to as Muggles) and there are a handful of wizarding schools with Hogwarts being the main location of various events as the students try to get educated by seasoned and powerful wizards in ways of magic spells via wands and incantanctions before Lord Voldemort makes a grand return as there is plenty of danger looming for Potter and his classmates.
Previously, veteran actor John Lithgow (“Conclave”) confirmed reports that he was cast as the new version of Professor Albus Dumbledore, with Janet McTeer (“MobLand”) in talks to play Professor Minerva McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu is close to landing the part of Professor Severus Snape (a double agent of sorts at Hogwarts, that ultimately operates as a protector of Harry).
We’re still waiting to hear who will ultimately end up in the roles of Harry, Ron, Hermione, and the villainous Lord Voldemort. With promises from HBO that the show could be ready by 2026, filming will have to begin very soon.
