Got a Tip?

Has Spielberg’s ‘Lincoln’ Project Been Killed By Paramount?

Steven Spielberg’s Dreamworks production company has obviously been struggling of late due to the bottom falling out of the global credit markets and their rocky relationship with Paramount. It appears the first casualty of Dreamworks/Paramount fight will be Spielberg’s passion project “Lincoln,” which was rumored to begin shooting in weeks, would chronicle the 16th president and had Liam Neeson in line to play the role of Abraham Lincoln.

“This past weekend, [Spielberg’s] been waiting for executives at Paramount—the studio he ditched last year—to decide whether to make the film and hire him to direct it.”

But According to Slate‘s update Paramount passed on the project this morning.

“Update: A knowledgeable source told me on Wednesday that Paramount has passed on Lincoln.”

If Paramount owns it and has passed, we presume they’ll shelve the project for years to come. Maybe even out of spite. The Dreamworks/Paramount split, wasn’t exactly amicable.
