HBO Casting: Ron Livingston and Brian Geraghty Join ‘Boardwalk Empire’; Melanie Lynskey Joins Duplass Bros.’ ‘Togetherness’

Ron Livingston

While HBO already has a busy spring slate with “Game Of Thrones” season 3, “Veep” season 2, “Vice” and “Behind The Candelabra” all premiering, the cable network is continuing to develop a promising lineup of news shows, while adding to existing hits. So let’s dive in.

Ron Livingston (“Office Space”) is set to be a series regular on “Boardwalk Empire.” He will play Roy Phillips, a well-to-do businessman who becomes entangled with local madame/former showgirl Gillian Darmody (Gretchen Mol). No stranger to HBO, Livingston has also starred in “Game Change,” episodes of “Sex and the City” (the infamous post-it note break-up), and “Band of Brothers.” Brian Geraghty (“Hurt Locker,” “Flight“) has also signed on to be a recurring character on the show. He will play Loren Knox, a newly assigned prohibition agent with ulterior motives. This will be Geraghty’s second recurring role on an HBO series, having played the squadmate of Terry Bellefleur (Todd Lowe) in “True Blood.”

Meanwhile, the always excellent Melanie Lynskey (“Hello I Must Be Going,” “The Informant!“) has joined the pilot of new HBO comedy seriesTogetherness.” She will play a “sweet-natured, hard-working, full-time mom, a wife and the mother of two children, whose marriage is dying on its feet as she yearns for a more fulfilling life.” The series, set to be written and directed by Jay and Mark Duplass, will follow two couples living together under one roof and struggling to keep their relationships alive while pursuing their individual dreams.

All told, more strong talent and exciting prospects on the way from HBO.
