Every holiday deserves a slasher film, right? They all can’t be on Halloween. So, for this coming Valentine’s Day, we have a new slasher hoping to bring couples closer together— “Heart Eyes.”

As seen in the trailer for “Heart Eyes,” the film tells the story of a new couple who go on a date on Valentine’s Day. Things seem to be going really well until they are stalked by a masked serial killer with a machete, known as the Heart Eyes Killer. Why is he called the Heart Eyes Killer? Well, it’s pretty literal as he wears a mask that has glowing hearts over his eyes. Yes, that makes him look very similar to an emoji. Does that make him scary or silly? We’ll have to watch the film to find out.

The film stars Olivia Holt, Mason Gooding, Gigi Zumbado, Michaela Watkins, Devon Sawa, and Jordana Brewster. “Heart Eyes” is directed by Josh Ruben. The filmmaker is one of the best up-and-coming genre filmmakers, previously helming films such as “Scare Me” and “Werewolves Within.”
