Israeli actor and screenwriter Lior Raz may not be a household name in America, but obviously, Netflix doesn’t care, they’ve got a global market to be concerned with, and clearly, the algorithm favors him. People are watching the things Raz has helped create, like the Israeli political thriller television series “Fauda,” which is a hit and he co-created. Raz also appeared in Michael Bay‘s “6 Underground” (Netflix nudge, I’m sure), and now they’re re-investing back into the star and creator. In 2016, the show took six awards, including Best Drama Series, at the Israeli Academy Awards, and now they’ve given him yet another series, a thriller called “Hit & Run.”

Raz plays a former special forces soldier who has since retired for a quieter life but forced to confront his violent past when his wife is killed in a mysterious hit and run accident. Lathan is a talented and ambitious New York journalist contacted by an old flame looking for help investigating a murder with newsworthy global implications. The series also stars Gal Toren, Gregg Henry, and Lior Ashkenazi. Here’s the official synopsis:
In this new action thriller, a happily married man’s life is turned upside down when his wife is killed in a mysterious hit and run accident in Tel Aviv. Grief-stricken and confused, he searches for his wife’s killers, who have fled to the U.S. With the help of an ex-lover (Sanaa Lathan), he uncovers disturbing truths about his beloved wife and the secrets she kept from him.
Netflix hasn’t given any concrete date for the series yet but says it’s set for an August 2021 release. You’ll have to wait a little bit to hear more. Watch the first trailer for “Hit & Run” below.
