‘HOKUM’ Teaser Trailer: Adam Scott Stars In Witchy Irish-Set Nightmare Coming To Theaters This May

NEON is behind a new horror film coming to theaters in May, as Irish writer/director Damian McCarthy (“Oddity”) is exploring the world of occult and witches with his new upcoming feature film effort, “HOKUM,” which just landed a teaser trailer.

“HOKUM” sees “Severance” star Adam Scott playing a horror novelist named Ohm Bauman, who visits a remote Irish inn to spread his parents’ ashes, unaware the place is rumored to be haunted by a witch. We’ll also see David Wilmot, Austin Amelio, Florence Ordesh, Peter Coonan, and others among the cast.

The producing team assembled consists of Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, Derek Dauchy, Ruth Treacy, Julianne Forde, and Mairtín de Barra. Image Nation, Tailored Films, and Spooky Pictures are behind the movie that was picked up by NEON during this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. Cweature Features is also a producer on the film with Ken Kao and Josh Rosenbaum set as executive producers.

An official logline courtesy of NEON:

When reclusive novelist Ohm Bauman (Scott) retreats to a remote Irish inn to scatter his parents’ ashes, the staff’s tales of an ancient witch haunting the honeymoon suite take hold of his mind. Soon, disturbing visions and a shocking disappearance draw him into a nightmarish confrontation with the darkest corners of his past.
