'The Hole In The Ground' Trailer: A24's Sundance Horror Film Hits DirecTV & Theaters Sooner Than You Might Think

A24 is a studio that has earned the respect of many cinephiles, particularly horror fans, with releases like “Under the Skin,” “The Witch,” and last year’s surprise hit “Hereditary.” However, not every film from the studio gets a major, buzzed-about theatrical release. But in the case of “The Hole in the Ground,” that shouldn’t be seen as a deterrent, at all.

As seen in the new trailer for the film, which is poised for a small theatrical run and first premiering on DirecTV, “The Hole in the Ground” has all the makings of a quality horror-thriller. The basic premise is that a young mother and her son move to a new town in the Irish countryside. After the son, Chris, runs off and is found near a large, unexplained hole in the ground, the mother starts to know that something just isn’t right with him. In fact, she thinks that perhaps her little son has been replaced by some sort of imposter.

From there, the trailer gives you enough chills and hints at jump-scares that are sure to please horror enthusiasts looking for something new in the early part of 2019. The film debuted at the Sundance Film Festival over the weekend, and is scheduled to hit DirecTV in a matter of days.

However, if you’re not a DirecTV subscriber and are waiting for director Lee Cronin’s new film, you can catch “The Hole in the Ground” in select theaters on March 1.
