Ever since “The Leftovers” finished its run recently, HBO has been pushing to produce a new series based on author Tom Perrotta’s bestselling novel “Mrs. Fletcher.” The author, who’s ‘Leftovers’ was turned into a critically-acclaimed series, was hired to executive produce and write the pilot for the network. Now, it looks like HBO is moving forward on the new series and has hired some great talent to bring it to life.
According to a recent report from Deadline, actress Kathryn Hahn and director Nicole Holofcener have been brought on board to star in and direct the pilot episode of the “Mrs. Fletcher” series, respectively. The series follows a divorced mother that recently finds herself in an “empty nest” situation, when she drops her son off to college. With her newfound freedom, she adopts a new, sexy persona and finds that her life is now full of very different sexual possibilities.

Filmmaker Nicole Holofcener seems like a great fit for the project. Her latest film, “The Land of Steady Habits,” will see its release on Netflix. Previous to that, Holofcener is probably best known for her films “Enough Said,” “Friends With Money,” and “Walking & Talking.” However, she has always dabbledin directing TV series. Holofcener was responsible for directing episodes of Tig Nitaro’s “One Mississippi,” as well as episodes of “Orange is the New Black,” “Parks and Rec,” and “Togetherness.”
Kathryn Hahn has been primarily known for her comedic work, appearing in films like “Bad Moms,” “We’re the Millers,” and “Step Brothers.” However, she balances that with appearing in the less-comedic projects such as “Captain Fantastic,” “Flower,” and “Transparent.” This seems like a great role for the actress that, clearly, has a lot of range and is ready to breakout in a big way.
There’s no official word from HBO about a release date for “Mrs. Fletcher.”
