Honest Trailers Tackles Wes Anderson's Entire Whimsical Filmography

Normally, the folks over at Screen Junkies take aim at the big budget blockbusters for their Honest Trailers. However, with “Isle of Dogs” hitting theaters, they decided to put filmmaker Wes Anderson under their microscope. But instead of picking one film to poke fun at, Screen Junkies looked at his entire filmography. And they found some interesting trends.

In the 7-minute video, the filmography of Wes Anderson doesn’t get brutalized like other films that get the Honest Trailer treatment. Instead, the Screen Junkies readily admit that Wes Anderson films are “just the most charming little things.” That doesn’t mean he’s immune to a little bit of satirization. Common patterns are brought up, like Anderson’s love of symmetry. However, the real bulk of the video is the thematic similarities between the films, and the very long, but funny, “Starring” segment.

Overall, the trailer is a great look at Wes Anderson’s very unique filmography, and how the filmmaker is truly a genre of his own. Ultimately, the Screen Junkies are right in their assessment, but darn it, we do love how each film has “more whimsy than a love-struck cub scout dancing in his underwear to a lakeside record player.”
