‘Hot Summer Nights’ Trailer: Timothée Chalamet Gets In Way Over His Head In Stylish New Film

This time last year, very few film fans knew about actor Timothée Chalamet. However, since the Sundance Film Festival premiere of “Call Me By Your Name,” the young actor has skyrocketed to fame and suddenly he’s everywhere. Last year, alone, saw the release of three major films starring Chalamet —”Call Me By Your Name,” “Lady Bird,” and “Hostiles.” Now, in 2018, everyone has their eyes on Chalamet, and in the first trailer for his new film “Hot Summer Nights,” you get to see what the actor has in store for fans.

“Hot Summer Nights” looks to showcase a new side of Chalamet — the nerd. As we meet Daniel, played by the young actor, he’s an awkward teen who can’t talk to girls and doesn’t fit in. That’s when fate falls in Daniel’s lap, and he becomes intertwined with a drug dealer and his beautiful sister. The footage looks stylish and fun, and Chalamet looks like he’s perfectly suited for the role.

The film is the debut of writer-director Elijah Bynum. Joining Chalamet in the cast is Maika Monroe, best known for “It Follows,” as the wild girl that starts to show a liking towards Chalamet’s Daniel. British actor Alex Roe, who was most recently seen in “Rings” and “The 5th Wave” (not the best endorsements, sorry), also stars in the film as the drug dealer that starts the whole crazy story.

The film is releasing early on DirecTV on June 28, but will be released in theaters July 27.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Set in Cape Cod over one scorching summer, Hot Summer Nights follows Daniel (Timothée Chalamet), a shy out-of-towner who gets in over his head flipping weed with the neighborhood rebel (Alex Roe) while pursuing his new business partner’s enigmatic sister (Maika Monroe). With a hurricane looming in the wings, tensions rise against a backdrop of drive-ins, arcades, and crashed parties as the stakes (and temperatures) grow ever higher.

Available exclusively on DIRECTV June 28. In Theaters July 27.
