'How I Met Your Father' Trailer: A Re-Do for 'HIMYM' Starring Hilary Duff

Fans looking for a redo of “How I Met Your Mother’s” divisive series finale will get another shot with the upcoming spin-off “How I Met Your Father.” The new trailer offers a gender-swapped version of HIMYM, with Hilary Duff’s (“Younger”) Sophie telling her son the story of how she met his father.

The concept was resurrected from the dead after networks passed on the Greta Gerwig-led version of this series. That series was initially slated to premiere almost immediately after HIMYM ended its run. But now that a little more time has passed and dating apps are one of the main driving forces of modern dating, the show has a shot at telling its own story.

In the near future, Sophie (Hilary Duff) is telling her son the story of how she met his father: a story that catapults us back to the year 2021, where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.

Christopher Lowell (“The Help”), Francia Raisa (“Grown-ish”), Tom Ainsley (“The Royals”), Tien Tran (“Candyman”), and Suraj Sharma (“Life of Pi”) join Duff in the cast. Kim Cattrall (“Sex and the City”) and Josh Peck (“Drake & Josh”) appear as recurring guest stars. “How I Met Your Father” premieres on Hulu on January 18. Take a look at the new trailer below.
