It’s been quite a while since Boots Riley’s debut film, “Sorry to Bother You.” Six years, in fact. Well, thankfully, we’re getting a new Riley film soon enough, as the filmmaker is set to begin production on a new NEON film, “I Love Boosters.”

NEON has announced that the studio is teaming up with acclaimed filmmaker Boots Riley for a new film titled “I Love Boosters.” Not only that, the cast will be led by Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, LaKeith Stanfield, and Demi Moore. According to the studio, the film is “about a ring of enterprising boosters (aka shoplifters, equal opportunists), who take aim at a cutthroat fashion maven.” Additional plot details are being kept under wraps apparently.

Riley is probably best known for his debut film, “Sorry to Bother You,” which also stars LaKeith Stanfield. The filmmaker’s more recent work includes the Prime Video limited series, “I’m a Virgo.” Though he doesn’t have a huge filmography, Riley has already established himself as a filmmaker willing to take big swings, which makes him one of the most interesting filmmakers working today.

Keke Palmer is probably best known for her recent work on Jordan Peele’s film, “Nope.” Ackie, on the other hand, is still an up-and-coming actor with a relatively small filmography. That said, she’s shown up in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” and has a big role in Zoe Kravitz’s new film, “Blink Twice.” As mentioned, Stanfield previously collaborated with Riley. And rounding it out, you have Moore, who is making headlines with her most recent film, “The Substance.”

It’s unclear when NEON might release “I Love Boosters.” That said, production is set to begin this fall, which makes a 2025 release seem likely.
