'Ideal Home' Trailer: Paul Rudd & Steve Coogan Try And Raise A Child Together

Feeling out of touch that you don’t know what the film “Ideal Home” is? Don’t worry, you wouldn’t be alone; Steven Coogan and Paul Rudd have cowboyed up for a film that no one saw coming let alone knew existed.

In “Ideal Home,” Coogan and Rudd play Erasmus and Paul, a bickering gay couple whose lives are turned inside out when a ten-year-old boy shows up at their door claiming to be Erasmus’ grandson. Neither Paul, nor Erasmus, are ready to give up their extravagant lifestyles to be parents, but maybe this little kid has a thing or two to teach them about the value of family.

In the trailer, Coogan and Rudd are faced with an unexpected task that many grandparents these days are faced with: trying to manage the abruptness of having their lives flipped upside down by having to raise their grandchild – but with a lot more gay jokes.

This is the third time Coogan and Rudd have been on screen together, as they’ve previously worked together on “Night at the Museum” and “Our Idiot Brother.” But perhaps the movie will be the second-time director Andrew Fleming and Coogan share a flop together. Fleming’s the filmmaker behind the notorious “Hamlet 2,” a movie that was sold for – at the time – the most movie a film had ever been sold for at the Sundance Film Festival. Then, of course, it went on to become an infamous dud.

Making matters worse, this film that you haven’t heard of has no U.S. release date, but apparently already had its world premiere at the 2018 Mardi Gras Film Festival and opens in Australia on June 21 which seems…. odd. Maybe this is one of those pictures that just goes under the radar. Perhaps that’s best for everyone concerned. Or not? Watch below and feel free to weigh in with something more optimistic.
