Michael Tyburski's 'Turn Me On' Stars Bel Powley & Nick Robinson

IFC Films announced this week that they will reunite with “The Sound of Silence” director Michael Tyburski for his sophomore feature, sci-fi comedy “Turn Me On.” The new movie boasts impressive young talent in leading roles with Bel Powley (“The King of Staten Island,” “White Boy Rick“) and Nick Robinson (“Love, Simon,” “A Teacher“) starring. “Turn Me On” has a script written by Angela Bourassa (“If You Were The Last“).

“I’m so thrilled to be making this film and to also be bringing it to the big screen with the teams at Film Constellation and IFC Films—both whom I’ve come to trust dearly and I know will truly provide the perfect homes for this story,” Tyburski said in a statement.

IFC has also provided a synopsis for the film which reads as follows:

In “Turn Me On,” the inconvenience of human emotion has been eradicated by a government-imposed daily vitamin. A young couple (played by Powley and Robinson) skip their dose to discover love, joy, and sex for the first time, but they quickly come to realize they must also handle the emotional baggage that comes with it.

The film’s producing team includes Zareh Nalbandian, Toby Nalbandian, and Gregory Schmidt of Truant Pictures, the live-action specialty division of Animal Logic Studios, along with Sean Bradley (“Paddleton“). Fabien Westerhoff and Bourassa will also executive produce.

Powley recently joined Joe Cole and Liev Schreiber in the Holocaust limited series “A Small Light” at Disney+ which will focus on the Dutch couple that helped bring Anne Frank‘s diary to the public, highlighting the horrors of Nazi-occupied Europe for Jews in hiding.

Production for “Turn Me On” will begin this November while IFC Films is aiming to release it in theaters during the summer of 2023. The film will later stream exclusively on AMC+.
