‘Obi-Wan’: Indira Varma Joins Ewan McGregor In The Cast Of ‘Star Wars’ Spinoff Series

If you would have asked a “Star Wars” fan a few years ago what Obi-Wan Kenobi did between ‘Revenge of the Sith’ and ‘A New Hope,’ the answer would have been that he was guarding over Luke and making sure he was okay during his childhood. For years, it’s just been assumed that Obi-Wan became a defacto monk for decades between the trilogies. Well, in the upcoming Disney+ series, we’re going to learn that he was up to a lot more than just sitting in his hut. And while we don’t know exactly what that means, we do know that Indira Varma will be there.

According to Variety, Indira Varma has joined the cast of the upcoming “Obi-Wan” Disney+ streaming series that is expected to begin production sometime this year. Her role in the series is being kept a secret (naturally). As mentioned, “Obi-Wan” is expected to see the return of Ewan McGregor as the title character and give us a little bit of a hint as to what the Jedi master was doing for that long period of time between the third and fourth films in the Skywalker Saga.

Varma is probably best known for her work on TV, where she’s shown up in series such as “Rome,” “Human Target,” and “Game of Thrones.” She’s also appeared in more recent shows such as “Patrick Melrose,” “Carnival Row,” and “For Life.” Varma joins McGregor and Hayden Christiansen in the cast of “Obi-Wan. The latter actor’s role was revealed in December, but it’s unclear how the Darth Vader actor is expected to show up.
