'Ingmar Bergman's Cinema' Trailer: Criterion Unleashes The Ultimate Bergman Box Set Featuring 39 Films

Odds are, if you’re a film fan that is a fan of the classics, then you’re very familiar with the many, many films from the legendary filmmaker Ingmar Bergman. And if you’re not, then you seriously have some homework. Regardless of the level of familiarity you have with the director, The Criterion Collection is about to release what will no doubt become the definitive Bergman collection.

Coming next month, Criterion is releasing “Ingmar Bergman’s Cinema” to honor the filmmaker’s recent 100th birthday. The box set contains 39 films on 30 Blu-rays spanning the career of one of film’s greatest talents, accompanied by a 248-page book filled with essays about Bergman and his films.

The collection is organized as its own film festival, broken up into opening and closing nights, as well as centerpiece films and double-features. Basically, if you want to fully immerse yourself into the work of Bergman, Criterion not only has all the films but gives you the proper viewing experience. And if the films and book weren’t enough, the collection also features over 30 hours of special features, which is more than a dozen films-worth of content to add to your 39 film festival. Don’t expect to leave the house anytime soon.

And to fully get film fans excited, Criterion released a trailer, highlighting the upcoming collection. It’s time for cinephiles to treat themselves to one of the best releases that Criterion has ever put together.
