Does Marvel television have a quality control problem? This year, they’ve certainly been hitting as much as missing. While “Legion” and “The Defenders” might have survived critical slings and arrows, “Iron Fist” was savaged, and the upcoming “Inhumans” looks like it’s going to meet the same fate. Fans have been vocally unimpressed with the trailers so far, and there’s been suggestions the production was cheap and rushed. Well, ABC is hoping they get people on board by throwing one more trailer out there.
The new promo does little to quell concerns about the shoestring budget feel to the show, and overall, it just looks kinda hokey. This is all the more astounding considering one of the big selling points is that the first two episodes were shot on IMAX cameras. Just goes to show you can use all the large format technology you want, but if you’re not going to step things up with a decent story or valuable resources, there’s not much point.
“Inhumans” hits IMAX on August 31st, and starts its regular run on ABC on September 29th.
