ComingSoon is reporting that Jessica Biel “may be in talks” to join Garry Marshall’s gestating remake of Frank Capra’s 1948 film “State Of The Union.”
In the original, starring Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn (sorry Biel, you are no Hepburn), “a businessman must reunite with his estranged wife in order to improve his campaign run for the President of the United States.” Rod Lurie (“The Contender,” “Straw Dogs”) has written the script and apparently Richard Gere is attached for the Spencer Tracy role.
There’s no word yet on when this might go in front of cameras, but that would probably depend on whether or not the sequel to “Valentine’s Day” (directed by Marshall), “New Year’s Eve” gets the go ahead.
