Director Ryan Coogler and actor Michael B. Jordan are continuing their collaborative streak with a new untitled period genre movie, which Warner Bros. recently acquired in a heated bidding war. Already rumored to involve vampires (and potentially the KKK), a new report from Deadline reveals that Irish actor Jack O’Connell (“Back To Black”) has been cast as a villain in the film due to be released in theaters on March 7, 2025. THR adds that Delroy Lindo (“Crooklyn”) has joined the cast as well.
Not too much else is known about the film, other than the rumors, but joining the star-studded team is two-time Oscar-winning composer Ludwig Göransson (“Oppenheimer”), who is also on board as an executive producer. His exceptional musical skills, previously showcased in “Black Panther,” will elevate the film’s atmosphere.
While the official plot is unknown, THR reports with more details, seemingly confirming rumors: “Insiders say the feature is set in the Jim Crow-era South and possibly involves both vampires and Southern supernatural traditions. Jordan may be playing dual roles — as twin brothers.”
Of course, Coogler and Jordan are lifelong collaborators, having worked on “Fruitvale Station,” the “Rocky” soft-reboot “Creed,” and the billion-dollar hit MCU installment, “Black Panther.” Coogler, who has a development deal at Marvel that includes some potential live-action shows, returned to work with Marvel on “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” following the death of its star Chadwick Boseman (due to a battle with colon cancer) and presumably will direct “Black Panther 3” whenever the studio gets around to rounding out that trilogy (Jordan had a small cameo in the film too).

O’Connell is known for films like the prison indie “Starred Up” and the Netflix Western series “Godless” by writer/director Scott Frank.
Other projects that Jordan has lined up include the “Without Remorse” sequel “Rainbow Six” from Chad Stahelski (“John Wick” franchise), based on the Tom Clancy novels. The actor is also expected to star/direct in MGM’s “Creed 4,” returning as the boxing champion Adonis Creed.
Production on the original untitled film, written by Coogler, is set to commence this month in New Orleans, Louisiana. This means that more casting updates are just around the corner.
