Got a Tip?

Jaimie Alexander Returning To Lady Sif Role In Marvel’s ‘Thor: Love & Thunder’

Marvel’s “Thor: Love & Thunder” was already going to have a strong female cast, and now, it’s added a familiar, though absent face from the “Thor” franchise, according to a new report.

Sources tell Deadline that Jaimie Alexander has secured a reprisal of the Lady Sif role in the next “Thor’ film, the fierce Asgardian warrior that hasn’t been seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since “Thor: The Dark World.” Sif avoided being killed on-screen in “Thor: Ragnarok,” while The Warriors Three weren’t so lucky. Alexander will join Taika Waititi‘s follow-up that already features a cast that includes Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster aka Lady Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Chris Pratt as Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, and Christian Bale as Gorr The God Butcher.

Deadline also believes Jaimie may have a guest spot on the “Loki” series.

The fourth ‘Thor’ installment ‘Love And Thunder’ is expected to become a direct follow-up to “Avengers: Endgame” and will feature other characters from “Guardians of The Galaxy.” According to Marvel’s announcement yesterday at the Disney Investor Day event, the sequel is set to begin shooting next month at the Disney-owned facility Fox Studios Australia located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The studio space was recently used for Destin Daniel Cretton‘s “Shang-Chi & The Legend of The Ten Rings.”

There is a chance that the Multiverse will play some role within the film’s plot as well, given it elemental to the “Loki” series and the recent trailer teased the return of Idris Elba‘s Heimdall. We shouldn’t be too shocked if Tom Hiddleston and other franchise actors are eventually resurrected in this franchise.

Lucasfilm‘s Kathleen Kennedy also revealed yesterday the company would be installing The Volume/StageCraft at the Australian facility; Taika used the new technology while shooting an episode of “The Mandalorian.” Barring any more production delays or further hiccups, Disney is set to release “Thor: Love and Thunder” on May 6, 2022.
