Despite warning us of a potential lack of updates, director Jason Reitman has returned to his Twitter to provide us with updates into his upcoming film “Up In The Air.”
As Reitman tweets; “Week four of editing begins today. I’m two scenes and three montages away from a first cut. Current running time: 2 hours 4 minutes.” Seems a little long for this dramedy, but then again, it’s week four.
Reitman also jumped on Twitter to inform all that he will once again be collaborating with Shadowplay Studio for the film’s opening sequence. Shadowplay previously collaborated with Reitman on “Thank You For Smoking” and “Juno” via their twee animated opening sequences – both of which can be viewed at the studio’s official site.
Shadowplay’s site also brings us 0ther tidbits in that the upcoming Karyn Kusama film “Jennifer’s Body” will also have its opening sequence created by the studio. Reitman must really love them, he produced the Diablo Cody-penned script for “Jennifer’s Body” (and Cody obviously penned “Juno”). The teen horror comedy of course stars, among others, Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried and Adam Brody among others. The animation house is apparently all the rage as films like, “The September Issue,” “Autopsy” and Fox Searchlight’s upcoming teen film, “Post Grad” are all employing title sequences created by the studio.
“Up In The Air” centers on a soulless corporate downsizer’s (George Clooney) whose untethered life –consumed by collecting air miles and receiving VIP travel treatment — is interrupted when he finally meets his match in a businesswoman (Vera Farmiga) who might be the one to finally ground the airborne-happy traveler. Anna Kendrick also c0-stars as Clooney’s younger, ambitious co-worker and rival. Jason Bateman plays his boss.
“Up In The Air” hits theaters on December 14th and seems destined to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
