Got a Tip?

Jean-Claude Van Damme & Dolph Lundgren To Reteam For 3D ‘Universal Soldier IV’

How do you keep a franchise going? Apparently, by getting Jean-Claude Van Damme to star in it every few years.

The low grade 1992 sci-fi action film “Universal Solider” which is about something something cryogenics something something robot soliders go bad became an unlikely hit of sorts. Well, enough of a success that that the film, starring Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren spawned two sequels, 1999’s “Universal Soldier: The Return” and last year’s “Universal Solider: Regeneration” (don’t worry if you missed it, we had no idea it was released either). It even spun off two straight-to-TV sequels with poor man’s Van Damme, Matt Battaglia, standing in for the “muscles from Brussels.”

Anyway, Lundgren and Van Damme are to set to return to the franchise in “Universal Solider IV [Insert Boring Sub-title Here].” Set to go in front of cameras in October, the film will be helmed by ‘Regeneration’ auteur John Hyams and will be in 3D. Hooray/Sigh/Really?/Whatever.
